KATHMANDU: Election results have been announced in all but two constituencies in the House of Representatives election, with the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) emerging as the clear winner after securing 125 seats under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) or direct system.

According to the latest results, the Nepali Congress (NC) has won 18 constituencies, while the CPN (UML) has secured eight seats and the Nepali Communist Party seven. The Shram Sanskriti Party, founded four months ago by Harka Rai (Sampang), has won three seats. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has secured one seat, while Mahabir Pun has been elected from Myagdi as an independent candidate.

Results from only two constituencies, Sankhuwasabha and Dhanusha-1, are yet to be finalized. In Sankhuwasabha, CPN (UML) candidate Arjun Karki is leading with 12,589 votes, followed by RSP’s Mingma Sherpa with 11,384 votes. Nepali Congress candidate Dipan Kumar Shrestha has received 10,000 votes so far.

Meanwhile, vote counting in Dhanusha-1 has been halted after the Election Commission annulled the candidacy of RSP candidate Kishori Sah (Kamal) following his blacklisting. After Sah filed an appeal, the Supreme Court issued an order to suspend the counting process in the constituency.
