KATHMANDU: Shram Sanskriti Party chairperson and lawmaker Harka Raj Rai (Harka Sampang) has accused the government and Prime Minister Balen Shah of being unaccountable to Parliament.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Rai said the absence of the Prime Minister and key ministers from Parliament, along with their failure to respond to lawmakers’ questions, violated parliamentary procedures and Rule 15(2) of the House regulations.
Rai also criticized the Speaker for preventing him and other party lawmakers from asking follow-up questions after ministers gave what he described as superficial answers.
He claimed the government failed to answer questions he raised on May 11 and 12, calling the situation a “black stain” on democracy and parliamentary practice.
