KATHMANDU: Senior leader and former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal has initiated an internal revolt within the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) by submitting a scathing 36-point letter of dissatisfaction to party Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
In the letter, Khanal heavily criticized the current leadership for ideological deviation, failure to complete organizational integration seven months post-merger, and a “shameful defeat” in elections due to mismanagement.
Describing the party’s interim statute as an ideological mess that cannot build a truly revolutionary communist party, Khanal stated that the public and cadre trust in the current leadership has drastically plummeted.
Consequently, he has demanded the immediate resignations of both Coordinator Prachanda and Co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal, calling for a special meeting to elect new, capable, and vision-driven leadership.
Khanal also reminded Prachanda of past “suicidal mistakes,” specifically pointing out how Prachanda and KP Sharma Oli forcefully registered the unified Communist Party of Nepal under an already-occupied name against the Election Commission’s warnings, an error that ultimately led to the historic collapse of the previous party structure.
