KATHMANDU: Former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has condemned his arrest as politically motivated and driven by bias, vowing to challenge the move through both legal and political means.

Speaking after being arrested by police from his residence in Katunje, Bhaktapur on Saturday morning, Lekhak alleged that the action was taken with prejudice and intent of retaliation.

“This is a politically biased and vindictive arrest. I am prepared to fight this both politically and legally,” he said.

Lekhak also criticized the government’s decision-making process, arguing that initiating arrests through a Cabinet decision undermines the rule of law.

“An arrest has been carried out based on a Cabinet decision. This does not happen anywhere in the world,” he remarked, calling it a mockery of legal norms.

His statement comes amid intensifying political tensions following the arrest of high-profile leaders in connection with the Gen-Z protest investigation.
