JANAKPURDHAM: Krishna Prasad Yadav, the Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, has secured a vote of confidence from the Provincial Assembly.

Chief Minister Yadav had tabled the motion for a vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly today, as required by constitutional provisions after the Janamat Party withdrew its support from the government.

The motion received 62 votes in favor and 36 against. A total of 100 Provincial Assembly members were present during the session. Speaker Ram Ashish Yadav announced that the proposal had been passed by a majority of the current members of the assembly.

A day before the confidence vote, Chief Minister Yadav inducted CPN-UML, the second-largest party in the Provincial Assembly, into the government. Following its inclusion in the coalition, CPN-UML also voted in favor of the confidence motion.

The motion was supported by CPN-UML, Nepali Congress, Nepali Communist Party, and Nepal Federal Socialist Party.

Meanwhile, the opposition votes came from JSP Nepal, the Janamat Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party. JSP Nepal voted against the motion after Chief Minister Yadav dismissed the party’s ministers from the cabinet yesterday.

Addressing the Provincial Assembly, Chief Minister Yadav said his goal is to establish good governance, create a corruption-free province, and fulfill the aspirations of the people. He stated that while the Nepali Congress had supported various parties in the past, it was now necessary for all parties to support the Congress-led government.

He also pledged to make the province prosperous and claimed that the buying and selling of project recommendation letters would no longer take place. Yadav emphasized that development work would now be carried out according to the aspirations and needs of the people.
