KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has proposed the formation of a shadow government to closely monitor the incumbent administration’s activities and strengthen its parliamentary role.

Under this strategy, Bhishma Raj Angdembe has been appointed as the Shadow Prime Minister to lead the opposition’s evaluation of government policies.

Key portfolios have been assigned to top leaders, including Prakash Man Singh for Home, Narendra Kumar Kerung for Finance, Sunil Bahadur Thapa for Foreign Affairs, Mohan Acharya for Infrastructure, Dr. Firdosh Alam for Education, and Dr. Chandra Mohan Yadav for Health and Food Safety.

Additional assignments include Bishnu Bahadur Khadka (Industry), Dr. Pramila Kumari Gachhadar (Agriculture), Khamma Bahadur Khati (Law), Khadga Shahi (Defense), Manmaya Bishwakarma (Communication), Gita Gurung (Labor), Sandeep Rana (Science), Santosh Subba (Energy), Dr. Ganga Laxmi Awal (Women and Children), Janak Raj Giri (Federal Affairs), and Yogesh Gauchan (Tourism) to complete the comprehensive oversight framework.
