KATHMANDU: Local-level chiefs and deputy chiefs elected from the Nepali Congress on Friday urged the party’s opposition faction not to pursue a split amid growing internal disputes.
A delegation comprising mayors and deputy mayors, including the chiefs of Tarakeshwar Municipality in Kathmandu, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality in Bhaktapur, and Nilkantha Municipality in Dhading, visited the party’s Chundevi office, where the opposition faction was holding a meeting, to convey their appeal.
Internal tensions have intensified within the Nepali Congress following the election of Gagan Kumar Thapa as party president through a special general convention.
