KATHMANDU: Opposition parties disrupted Tuesday’s session of the House of Representatives, accusing Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah of continuously ignoring the parliament.

The obstruction was jointly carried out by the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, alongside other opposition forces including the CPN (UML), Nepali Communist Party, Shram Sanskriti Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

The opposition lawmakers halted proceedings to demand the immediate implementation of the “Question and Answer Session with the Prime Minister,” as mandated by parliamentary regulations.

According to the House of Representatives Regulations, 2023, a dedicated Q&A session between members of parliament and the Prime Minister must be conducted during the first week of every month.

The opposition maintains that the session cannot proceed normally until the Prime Minister complies with this rule and makes himself available to answer lawmakers’ questions.
