KATHMANDU: Rabindra Mishra, senior vice-chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has resigned from all party responsibilities, announcing an immediate departure from partisan politics.
In a statement posted on social media on Saturday, Mishra said the decision was made after careful consideration, not out of frustration or haste. He acknowledged that despite growing public support for the restoration of the monarchy, the RPP had repeatedly failed to effectively organize and capitalize on that sentiment, adding that he also bears responsibility as a senior party leader.
Mishra said his positions on key issues, including restoring the monarchy and promoting good governance, remain unchanged. He added that he will continue to express his views and advocate these agendas as an independent voice for the time being.
Reflecting on his nine-year political journey, Mishra said he had tried to work honestly for political and national transformation but believes further structural changes and new political understanding are needed to address the country’s evolving geopolitical and internal challenges.
