KATHMANDU: Narayan Pariyar, acting chairman of the Sukumbasi Morcha and a leader of the CPN (UML), has been arrested in connection with a banking offense case. He was taken into custody specifically on charges related to banking fraud.
His arrest comes at a time when the government is preparing to remove landless settlers living along riverbanks in Kathmandu. However, police have stated that Pariyar’s arrest is not related to the ongoing issues concerning the squatters.
