KATHMANDU: The CPN (UML) has triggered a legislative dispute in the House of Representatives, demanding that Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal’s recent statements be expelled from the official parliamentary record.
The friction began on Sunday during an unexpected session where Prime Minister Balendra Shah took the floor to answer spontaneous questions from lawmakers.
UML Chief Whip Ain Bahadur Mahar lodged a formal objection, accusing Speaker Aryal of violating Rule 56 of the House of Representatives Rules of Procedure.
Mahar vehemently contested the Speaker’s claim that there is no requirement to submit questions for the Prime Minister three days in advance, arguing that the statement contradicts parliamentary regulations.
