The body of 17-year-old Smit Pradhan, a resident of Barahakhutti in Rapti Rural Municipality–2, was recovered on Friday afternoon.

According to police, Pradhan and 16-year-old Ayushman Thapa Magar of Pankhapani, Rapti Rural Municipality–1, had left their homes on Thursday night around 8 PM, saying they were going to visit a friend.

Police said the two were allegedly attacked by a group of two women and two unidentified men when they reached the Maurighat area of Rapti Rural Municipality–4.

Ayushman sustained injuries to his back, eye, cheek, and ear and is currently undergoing treatment at Rapti Basic Hospital, according to Police Inspector Pushkar Singh Airi of the Area Police Office, Bhaluwang.

Police were alerted to the incident at around 4 AM on Friday, after which a team was dispatched to the site. Initially, the injured boy did not disclose full details, but later informed police that Pradhan had been with him, prompting a search operation.

Pradhan’s body was eventually found in a dry riverbed near the Gopi stream, about 1.5 kilometers east of the incident site. Police said he had sustained serious head injuries.
