Tractor crash kills two, injures one in Kanchanpur

KANCHANPUR: Two people have died and one has been injured after a tractor went out of control and rammed into workers at a brick kiln in Punarbas Municipality-7.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hem Bahadur Shahi of the District Police Office, the incident occurred last night at New Janata Brick Industry. Workers had been sleeping on stacks of raw bricks when a tractor (Se 1 Ta 8876), used for sprinkling water, lost control and crashed into them.

In the incident, 27-year-old Ajay Kumar from Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, India, was critically injured and later declared dead at Seti Provincial Hospital. Similarly, 9-year-old Pawan Kumar died during treatment at Navajivan Hospital, police said.

The bodies of both deceased have been kept at the mortuary of Seti Provincial Hospital.

An 11-year-old boy, Ghurra Kumar, who was seriously injured in the accident, is currently undergoing treatment at Seti Provincial Hospital.

Police said the tractor and water tanker have been taken under control by the Tribhuvanbasti Area Police Office, while the driver remains absconding and a search operation is underway.
