FEROZEPUR, PUNJAB: At least nine people were killed and multiple others injured early Saturday morning when a pickup truck collided head-on with a trailer on the Ferozepur-Fazilka road.

The vehicle was carrying 28 passengers, all members of a family from Jalalabad who were returning home after performing post-cremation rituals for a relative.

The impact of the crash killed four individuals on the spot, while five others later succumbed to their injuries.

Local police and administrative officials supervised the rescue operations, transferring the injured to a nearby hospital.

Several critically injured victims have since been moved to a specialized medical facility in Faridkot for advanced treatment.
