KATHMANDU: An all-Nepali expedition team under the “Summit to Sea” campaign successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest on Saturday morning, according to Seven Summit Treks.

The expedition was led by Mingma Tamang and included climbers Nishan Thapa, Lal Bahadur Waiba Tamang, Saroj Aryal, Sang Mingmar Tamang, Pasang Sherpa, and Som Tamang Waiba.

In a statement, Seven Summit Treks congratulated the team for demonstrating exceptional courage and determination in scaling the world’s highest peak entirely through Nepali leadership and participation.

The “Summit to Sea: Everest to the Bay of Bengal” campaign is an environmental awareness expedition aimed at highlighting the interconnection between mountains, rivers, ecosystems, and communities. Following their Everest ascent, the team is set to undertake a kayaking journey of more than 1,830 miles from the Himalayan glacier source to the Bay of Bengal.

The expedition seeks to raise awareness about climate change, river conservation, and the environmental challenges affecting both mountain and downstream communities.
