KATHMANDU: Assistant Sub-Inspector Nimdikki Sherpa and Assistant Head Constable Anita Karki have successfully climbed Mount Everest on behalf of the Armed Police Force Nepal.

Karki reached the summit at 10:20 AM on Sunday, followed by Sherpa at 11:55 AM, according to the Armed Police Force.

They are the third and fourth personnel from the organization to scale the world’s highest peak.

This is also the first successful Everest ascent by female personnel from the force, said Deputy Spokesperson Shailendra Thapa.

Sherpa, originally from Mabu in Sandakpur Rural Municipality of Ilam, and Karki from Chuchure in Gokulganga Rural Municipality–1 of Ramechhap—who is also a national-level fencing player—had received training in mountain rescue and high-altitude operations.

Both had previously summited Chulu Far East and Lobuche peaks in Nepal.

The Armed Police Force said the achievement is expected to further inspire and encourage women’s participation, capability, and leadership within the organization.
