KATHMANDU: Veteran British mountaineer Kenton Cool has set a historic international climbing record after successfully summiting Mount Everest for the 20th time.
The 53-year-old climber from Gloucestershire, England, reached the summit early Friday alongside veteran Sherpa guide Dorje Gyalzen Sherpa, who completed his 24th successful Everest ascent.
Cool first climbed Everest in 2004 and later became the first British climber to summit Nuptse, Everest, and Lhotse in a single climbing season in 2013.
In 2021, he further expanded his mountaineering achievements by summiting Lhotse within 29 hours of reaching the top of Everest.
