KATHMANDU: Nepal has been honored with the “Most Charming Tourism Destination” award in Guangzhou, China.

The honor was bestowed upon Nepal at the Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF), held from May 21 to 23 in Guangzhou, China.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the award was presented in recognition of Nepal’s natural beauty, spirituality, cultural diversity, and adventure tourism appeal.

The Nepal Tourism Board coordinated Nepal’s participation in the three-day international travel fair under the slogan “Nepal: A Lifetime Experience.”

During the fair, Nepal showcased its diverse potential in cultural, religious, adventure, outdoor, and luxury tourism to international visitors and travel trade professionals.

Because Guangzhou is a major commercial and tourism hub located near Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, it is viewed as a highly significant market for promoting Nepali tourism.

The Nepal Tourism Board stated that there is high potential to attract Chinese tourists, particularly in the sectors of wellness, religious, cultural, and luxury tourism.

On the opening day of the fair (May 21), a special presentation on “Destination Nepal” alongside traditional Nepali cultural dance performances was organized.

The event introduced Chinese visitors and tourism entrepreneurs to Nepal’s art, culture, and tourism heritage.

During the opening session, Bimal Kandel, Senior Manager of the Nepal Tourism Board, delivered a country presentation highlighting Nepal’s tourism potential, destinations, and promotional strategies.

He also participated in a panel discussion regarding strategies for expanding Nepal’s tourism market.

Eight Nepali tourism companies participated in the exhibition.

The participating companies briefed Chinese and international travel operators on various packages related to trekking, tours, hotels, and hospitality services.

Currently, Nepal Airlines and China Southern Airlines operate direct flights between Kathmandu and Guangzhou.

The Nepal Tourism Board believes this will expand tourism access between Nepal and China and significantly help increase the influx of Chinese tourists. (RSS)
