KATHMANDU: More than 270 climbers successfully reached the summit of Mt. Everest on Wednesday, marking one of the largest and most historic single-day ascents in the history of Nepali mountaineering.

According to the Expedition Operators Association of Nepal, this record wave of summits is part of the ongoing spring climbing season.

For this season, a record-breaking 500+ climbers have received permits; when including their support guides, over 1,000 people are expected to attempt the summit.

Favorable weather has allowed consistent climbs since the rope-fixing team completed the route to the peak on May 12.
