KATHMANDU: The Meteorological Forecasting Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that monsoon winds are currently influencing the entire regions of Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, some parts of Gandaki Province, and the eastern parts of Lumbini Province.

The remaining areas are experiencing a partial influence of western and local winds.

According to the Division, the monsoon is expected to expand to the remaining parts of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as across Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, within the next three to four days.

Currently, the Terai plains of Sudurpashchim Province are mostly clear, while the rest of the country is experiencing partly cloudy skies.

Light rain is occurring in one or two places within Koshi, Bagmati, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

This afternoon, weather conditions will remain generally cloudy across the nation.

The Division has noted that light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in some places of the hilly and mountainous regions, with moderate rain also possible in parts of the Terai plains.

Heavy rain is expected in one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi Province.

Furthermore, strong winds/gusts are forecast in parts of the Terai and Madhesh regions of Koshi Province.

Tonight, the weather will continue to remain generally cloudy across the country.

Moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning are likely in many places of Koshi Province, some hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and a few mountainous locations.

The Division also stated that moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning could occur in parts of the hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as one or two mountainous spots.

Similarly, moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is expected in some places of Madhesh Province and the Terai plains of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Heavy to very heavy rain is likely in some hilly and Terai areas of Koshi Province, while heavy rain is forecast in one or two locations of Madhesh Province.

Strong winds are also predicted in the Terai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as some places in Madhesh Province.

The Division has urged the general public in areas forecast to experience strong winds and heavy rainfall to take necessary precautions and remain alert.
