Monsoon triggers rainfall across hilly regions while heatwave threatens western Terai

KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds are currently active across Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati provinces, alongside parts of Gandaki and eastern Lumbini, while western and local winds affect the rest of Nepal.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, this system will bring generally cloudy skies and moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning to several hilly and mountainous regions today, with snowfall expected in the high Himalayas.

Additionally, parts of the Koshi and Madhesh Terai will experience moderate rainfall.

Conversely, a heatwave warning has been issued for the Terai plains of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, where hot winds are expected, alongside rising temperatures in the Terai regions of Bagmati and Gandaki.

The weather division has urged the public in these heat-affected zones to take necessary precautions and stay updated on the changing weather conditions
