KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently experiencing unpredictable weather patterns driven by a combination of western winds, local winds, and a low-pressure system lingering near the eastern part of the country.

This system has already brought strong winds and light rainfall to various parts of the nation, including Kathmandu.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, skies will remain generally cloudy throughout the afternoon across the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while the Terai plains will see partly cloudy conditions.

The Division has issued an advisory predicting light to moderate rain or snowfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, for parts of the upper regions in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki.

A few areas in Madhesh, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim, along with isolated spots in the Bagmati and Gandaki Terai plains, are also likely to experience these stormy conditions.

Meanwhile, a sharp contrast in weather will be felt in the southern plains, as the Terai regions of Sudurpashchim and Lumbini provinces brace for an uncomfortably hot day.

As night falls, generally cloudy conditions are expected to persist across the country.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division warns that the risk of stormy weather will continue after dark, with light to moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning forecast for several areas within Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as select locations in Koshi, Madhesh, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim.

Furthermore, residents in the Terai and hilly areas of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Lumbini, alongside a few other locations in the southern plains, should prepare for strong, gusty winds.

Citizens and travelers across the affected provinces are advised to stay updated on shifting conditions and take necessary precautions against sudden lightning and wind damage.
