KATHMANDU: Nepal’s weather is currently driven by a western low-pressure system and local winds, causing general cloud cover over Koshi and Sudurpashchim provinces and the high-altitude regions, while the rest of the country sees partly cloudy skies.

Currently, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is falling over scattered areas of Koshi Province.

This afternoon, skies will remain cloudy over the hills and mountains, while the Terai lowlands will stay partly cloudy.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division warns of light to moderate thundershowers in the hilly and mountainous regions, as well as isolated pockets of the Lumbini and Sudurpashchim plains.

In stark contrast, Madhesh Province and the Koshi Terai are bracing for an intensely hot day.

Tonight, the Terai will clear up, but isolated light rain remains possible across the high-altitude and hilly terrains of Koshi, Karnali, Sudurpashchim, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
