DHADING: Two people have died and two others have been seriously injured after a water tanker crashed on an inner dirt road in Gupteshwor, Galchhi Rural Municipality-3, Dhading.
At around 2 a.m. this morning, a tanker carrying water from Adamghat to Gupteshwor Temple (Bagmati Province 01-004 Ka 3352) lost control and fell approximately 500-600 meters off the road.
18-year-old Prashant Chepang and 20-year-old Jayaram Chepang, residents of Gajuri Rural Municipality-6, Dhading, died on the spot. Two others were seriously injured, according to the police.
The injured, identified as 19-year-old Shirish Chepang and 17-year-old Suresh Chepang, have been referred to Kathmandu for further treatment, informed DSP Subash Hamal, police spokesperson at the District Police Office, Dhading.
Following the accident, a team of seven, led by Police Inspector Raju Prasad Dhakal from the Area Police Office, Sunaula Bazaar, and a team of six, led by Police Assistant Inspector Rajkumar Khadka from the Area Police Office, Gajuri, were deployed to the scene.
The injured have been rescued and taken to the hospital, while the tanker driver, 23-year-old Dinesh Chepang, has been taken into custody by the police.
Initial investigations suggest the accident may have been caused by the narrowness of the road while the tanker was reversing.
The police have stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
