Electric shock claims lives of two women in Morang

MORANG: Two women lost their lives after being electrocuted while singing and dancing at a wedding in Morang on Tuesday night at 8 PM.

The victims, 73-year-old Surya Devi Gangai, wife of Satrulal Gangai, and 70-year-old Ramudevi Gangai, wife of Jatrulal Gangai, were performing at a wedding in Mirchadangi, Ratuwamai Municipality-3.

According to the ward chairman of Ratuwamai-3, Devilal Tajpuria, the incident occurred when a bamboo pole holding a light was tied to an electric high-tension wire. In the evening, strong winds caused the bamboo to fall, leading to the electrocution of Surya Devi and Ramudevi.

Additionally, 30-year-old Radhakumari Singh from the same area was injured by the electric shock. She was treated at Jhurkiya Municipality Hospital and sent home, as confirmed by the ward chairman.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Rangeli Hospital for post-mortem. The police reported that the bodies will be handed over to the relatives on Wednesday after the post-mortem.
