KATHMANDU: Judge Mahendra Bahadur Karki’s bench at the Kathmandu District Court ordered the release of Nepali Congress MP Maya Rai on a bail amount of NPR 1 million.

The order came on Wednesday after the completion of her statement and remand hearing.

Rai, who was previously the board member of Swarnalaxmi Cooperative in Kalimati, had been arrested on charges of fund embezzlement.

It was revealed that around NPR 25 million had been misappropriated during her time as a board member of the cooperative.
