KATHMANDU: The National Vigilance Center (NVC) submitted its annual report for the fiscal year 2080/081 (2023/24) to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday.

The report was presented by NVC Secretary Saraju Kumar Baidya during a program held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli emphasized that his government was formed with the primary objective of ensuring good governance and development. He directed the Center to work more effectively in these areas.

Oli stressed that since the Center operates directly under the Prime Minister’s Office, it must remain active in reporting regularly and following instructions.

He further stated that corruption is the enemy of development and good governance and called for collective efforts to combat it.

Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal, Ek Narayan Aryal, along with other senior officials, were also present at the event.

According to the report, the NVC has been conducting regulatory monitoring and surprise inspections to enhance the effectiveness of services provided by public bodies, in line with the goals of the 16th periodic plan.

When irregularities are detected, the Center forwards them to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) for action.

The National Vigilance Center was established on Shrawan 27, 2059 BS (August 12, 2002), under the direct supervision of the Prime Minister, to uphold good governance in the country.
