KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that paintings vividly bring Nepal’s culture and history to life.

While observing the special exhibition of senior painter Hari Prasad Sharma’s artworks titled “Nepal Over Time: History, Culture, and Daily Life of Nepal in Paintings”, Prime Minister Oli expressed this view.

He noted that Sharma’s paintings highlight important aspects of Nepali society, culture, and history, and expressed confidence that they would serve as a guide for future generations.

According to him, these creations play a crucial role in raising public awareness about the country’s cultural heritage.

He said, “Hariprasad Sharma’s paintings reflect a study of history. Through his art, he presents this study in a lively and vivid manner. Future generations must understand history. We need to know where we came from and what kind of history shaped us. We must understand what our art and culture were like and how they are today. He has diligently depicted the development of our culture. He has glorified Nepali society.”

The 88-year-old Sharma’s fifth solo exhibition has been ongoing since Jestha 9 (May 23) at the Nepal Art Council.

Visitors to the exhibition can experience the rich Newari folk culture, daily life, and the contemporary Newari environment and customs of the Kathmandu Valley through his paintings.
