KATHMANDU: The Flood Forecasting Division has issued a flood alert for today (Monday, June 9), urging public caution in riverine areas.

The division has identified 11 districts and their nearby rivers or streams as being at risk of rising water levels today. These districts are Taplejung, Solukhumbu, Sankhuwasabha, Khotang, Kaski, Myagdi, Baglung, Dailekh, Rukum East, Rukum West, and Dang.

While the water levels in major rivers such as Koshi, Narayani, Karnali, Mahakali and their key tributaries — including East and West Rapti, Kankai, Kamala, Bagmati, and Babai — are likely to remain below warning thresholds for the next three days, fluctuations are expected. Therefore, general alertness is advised in riverside areas.

The division has requested residents and local authorities in these areas to stay alert, especially near smaller rivers and streams, where increased flow could pose localized flood risks.
