Bodies of missing girl, woman found in Tamor River

TAPLEJUNG: Two bodies have been recovered from the Tamor River in Taplejung after being reported missing.

According to police, the bodies of a girl and a woman who had gone missing in the Tamor River have been found.

Bibek Basnet, the information officer at the Taplejung District Police Office and a police inspector, confirmed that the deceased have been identified as 11-year-old Ganga Sherpa, daughter of Ningma Sange Sherpa from Phungling Municipality–3, and 37-year-old Kamala Sherpa from Aathrai Tribeni Rural Municipality–2.

Inspector Basnet informed that the girl’s body was discovered on Monday near the banks of the Tamor River, close to Nawakhola in Chhathar Rural Municipality–3 of Tehrathum district.

Similarly, the woman’s body was found along the Tamor River in Dudhepani, located in Hilihang Rural Municipality–2 of Panchthar district.

According to police, the girl, Ganga Sherpa, went missing on Jestha 22 (June 5) after slipping into the Tamor River while drinking water.

Kamala Sherpa had gone missing from her home on Jestha 19 (June 2) without informing anyone.
