KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) General Secretary and Member of Parliament Dr. Dhawal Shamsher Rana on a bail amount of Rs 300,000.

The decision followed his appearance before Judge Shiva Prasad Khanal on Monday.

Rana appeared in court for a statement recording in connection with a criminal case stemming from a pro-monarchy rally held on Chaitra 15, 2081 B.S. (March 28, 2025).

He is accused of inciting violence during the demonstration, which turned chaotic.

His statement was taken as part of the legal process to determine his detention status.

After the hearing, the court opted for conditional release on bail instead of pretrial custody.
