TEHRAN: Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced early Wednesday that it had launched hypersonic missiles targeting Israel, marking a dramatic escalation in the ongoing confrontation between the two archrivals.

The IRGC claimed the attack was part of the “11th wave of the proud Operation Honest Promise 3,” utilizing Fattah-1 hypersonic missiles.

According to the Guards’ statement aired on Iranian state television, Iranian forces now “have gained complete control over the skies of the occupied territories,” a reference to Israel. This development comes as hostilities between the two nations have intensified over the past six days.

Simultaneously, multiple Iranian news outlets reported that Israel had launched a counterattack, striking the Khojir missile production facility near Tehran. Nournews, affiliated with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, also reported an explosion in eastern Tehran, raising concerns about the vulnerability of Iran’s military infrastructure.

Meanwhile, a human rights monitoring group reported that at least 585 people have been killed and 1,326 injured in Israeli strikes on Iranian territory since the beginning of the latest round of fighting.

Global powers are watching closely. G7 leaders, who met this week in the Canadian Rockies, have largely expressed support for Israel’s pre-emptive strikes on suspected Iranian nuclear facilities. U.S. President Donald Trump also entered the fray, demanding Iran’s “unconditional surrender.”
