KALIKOT: The Government of India has extended approximately Rs 93 million in financial assistance for the construction of the new Shree Janajyoti Secondary School building in Kalikot district of Karnali province.
The foundation stone was officially laid today in Sannitriveni Rural Municipality-4 of the district.
This venture marks India’s very first High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) in the Kalikot district, with local execution being managed directly through the Sannitriveni Rural Municipality to ensure immediate community benefits.
In a video message broadcast for the occasion, Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India to Nepal, extended his best wishes to local stakeholders and reiterated the Government of India’s steadfast commitment to working closely alongside the people and Government of Nepal to achieve shared growth and regional prosperity.
In response, the Chairman of Sannitriveni Rural Municipality and local community leaders highly appreciated India’s developmental support, expressing strong confidence that the new infrastructure will substantially upgrade the learning and teaching environment for local students and educators alike.
This Kalikot school project is part of a much larger development footprint driven by New Delhi across the region.
Since the inception of the HICDP programme, India has undertaken close to 600 projects spanning 74 districts across all seven provinces of Nepal, including 18 active projects in Karnali Province alone.
Furthermore, India’s targeted development aid has supplied 56 ambulances and 14 school buses to health and education institutions throughout Karnali Province, which includes 4 ambulances and 2 school buses specifically allocated to Kalikot district.
As close neighbors, India and Nepal share a deep-rooted, multi-sectoral partnership, and the active implementation of these HICDPs highlights India’s ongoing diplomatic and financial commitment to reinforcing Nepal’s grassroots infrastructure and accelerating community development.
