KATHMANDU:The committee formed to recommend candidates for the vacant position of Vice Chancellor at Tribhuvan University has submitted a shortlist of three names to Prime Minister and Chancellor KP Sharma Oli.

The committee, led by Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Raghuji Panta, proposed the names of Prof. Dr. Khadga KC, the current acting Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Binil Aryal, former Dean of the Faculty of Science; and Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal, former head of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The names were presented in alphabetical order.

The position became vacant following the resignation of former Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Keshar Jung Baral, which was formally accepted on Chaitra 28.

In the interim, Chancellor Oli appointed Prof. Dr. Khadga KC as acting Vice Chancellor on Chaitra 31 for a maximum period of three months or until a permanent appointment could be made.

The recommendation committee was constituted on Jestha 6.

Along with Minister Panta, it included the National Planning Commission member responsible for the education sector and the secretary of the Ministry of Education.
