KATHMANDU: Former Major General Prem Shahi has withdrawn his petition filed at the Supreme Court challenging the military court’s decision to dismiss him during the tenure of then-Chief of Army Staff Prabhu Ram Sharma.

Shahi, considered close to former Army Chief Purna Chandra Thapa, had earlier alleged that the action taken against him during Sharma’s leadership was motivated by ill intent.

However, after Sharma’s retirement and the appointment of Ashok Sigdel as the new Army Chief, Shahi decided to retract his legal challenge.

A few weeks ago, Shahi submitted a formal request to withdraw the writ petition.

On Wednesday, a division bench comprising Justices Sharanga Subedi and Shanti Singh Thapa approved his request and issued an order allowing the petition withdrawal.
