JHAPA: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has expressed confidence that the land-related bill currently under parliamentary deliberation will be approved soon.
Addressing a land ownership certificate distribution program for informal settlers in Arjundhara Municipality today, Ghimire said that the enactment of the new land law would resolve long-standing land issues.
He emphasized the need to grant land ownership to hundreds of landless individuals and recalled that past commissions had faced hurdles in distributing prepared land certificates due to high land revenue costs.
He noted that the current government’s decision to reduce land registration fees to five percent has led to an increase in the number of people willing to claim ownership documents.
“Many informal settlers have not received land ownership documents despite living on the land for years,” he stated. “Such problems will be resolved once the new law is enacted.”
Ghimire also praised the current Land Commission’s performance.
