KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the influence of the monsoon winds remains weak across the country.

The monsoon trough is currently situated near its average position.

According to the Department, the weather across Nepal is expected to remain generally cloudy this afternoon.

Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in some hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and at a few places in other regions.

One or two locations in the hilly areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces may experience heavy rainfall.

For tonight, the forecast suggests generally cloudy skies over the hilly areas of Koshi Province and partly cloudy conditions in other regions.

There is a chance of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at a few locations in Koshi Province and isolated spots in other provinces.

The weather bulletin also mentions the possibility of windstorms in some parts of the Tarai region of Koshi Province and in Madhesh Province.
