KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has taken initiative to resolve issues related to the starting point of the Kathmandu–Terai/Madhes Expressway project in the Khokana area.

He held a briefing today with concerned ministers and high-level officials to find a way forward.

During the discussion held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, consultations were made on the current entry point of the expressway located at Phudol of Lalitpur Metropolitan City–21, and the problems that have arisen due to it.

Suggestions from various studies and alternative proposals were reviewed.

Since Khokana is a culturally and religiously significant area for the Newar community, the meeting focused on exploring viable alternatives that respect its heritage.

Following the discussions, Prime Minister Oli directed officials to avoid prolonged uncertainty, address the demands of the local community as much as possible, and expedite the project’s implementation.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal, Defense Minister Manbir Rai, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Economic Development Advisor Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel, and secretaries from both ministries.
