KAVRE: A pregnant woman from Gokule, Mahabharat Rural Municipality-1 in Dandapari, was rescued by helicopter on Tuesday, saving both her and her baby’s lives.
The woman, 21-year-old Renuka Lungeli, had been admitted to the local health post on Monday evening due to labor complications.
According to Rural Municipality Chairperson Kanchhalal Zimba, the rescue was carried out with financial support from the President’s Women Upliftment Program. Lungeli was airlifted from the Gokule Health Post and admitted to Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital in Kathmandu, said Purnima Tumsing, head of the health post.
Just days earlier, on Friday afternoon, another pregnant woman, Devkumari Pakhrin from Mahabharat-7, Bankhu, was also rescued by helicopter ambulance.
Most roads in Mahabharat Rural Municipality are unpaved and become impassable during the rainy season, making air rescues essential for emergency medical cases.
Chairperson Zimba noted that the President’s Women Upliftment Program has proven highly effective in remote areas, providing life-saving support to many rural women.
