KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed confidence that the Welfare Fund of the Nepal Army will continue to contribute significantly to social service and the shared goal of national development through its welfare programs.
Speaking at a special ceremony held at the Army Headquarters on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the establishment of the Welfare Fund, PM Oli—who is the patron of the Fund—commended the Directorate of Welfare for its diverse initiatives launched through the Fund to support active and retired personnel of the Nepal Army and their dependent families.
He stated that the Welfare Fund, established using earnings from United Nations peacekeeping missions, has made substantial contributions to areas such as education, health, family housing, and social security—thereby also reducing the burden on the state.
“This fund has played a crucial role in enabling retired army personnel to lead dignified lives even after their service, through skill enhancement and self-reliance programs,” said Oli.
“Nepal is on the path to development and prosperity. We are actively working towards the national aspiration of a ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.’ The government’s focus on development and productivity offers scope for investment, and I will take further initiatives to ensure the long-term sustainability of this Fund,” he added.
