LALITPUR: Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has urged political parties to guide themselves by core ideologies and principles rather than a singular focus on attaining power.
Speaking at a youth interaction program on Sunday, Thapa criticized the last decade of Nepali politics for becoming dangerously power-centric.
He specifically condemned the recent practice of forming “opposition-free” provincial governments, calling the elimination of legislative opposition a violation of democratic values.
Thapa emphasized that political positions are temporary, but integrity is permanent.
To revitalize the party, he called for organizational changes that actively integrate the innovative thinking of the younger generation with the experience of veteran leaders.
