KATHMANDU: The rival faction of the Nepali Congress (NC), led by figures advocating for a regular general convention under the coordination of former acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka, has announced a national gathering in Kathmandu by mid-August 2026.
During a press conference at Chundevi, publicity committee coordinator Min Bishwakarma accused the current establishment faction led by President Gagan Thapa of showing no interest in party unity despite the rival faction’s continuous efforts and flexibility over the seven months following internal disputes and four months post-court verdict.
Furthermore, the faction announced that the exact date and venue of the national gathering will be unveiled during the 44th BP Memorial Day event, scheduled for July 22 at Pragya Pratisthan, Kamaladi, under the coordination of Prakashman Singh.
