KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has warned of a risk of flash floods in rivers and streams flowing through various parts of the country, urging residents in those areas to remain highly alert.
According to the department, small rivers flowing through Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Ilam, Panchthar, Tehrathum, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Kavrepalanchok, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Dhading, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Kaski, Tanahun, Syangja, Parbat, Baglung, Gulmi, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Pyuthan, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta Purba), Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta Paschim), Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Doti, Dadeldhura, Kailali, Kanchanpur, and their surrounding districts present a high risk of localized flooding today.
Meanwhile, the department noted that the water levels in major rivers—including the Koshi, Narayani, Bagmati, Karnali, Mahakali, and their tributaries, as well as the Kankai, Kamala, Babai, East Rapti, and West Rapti rivers—currently remain below the danger mark.
