KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall across Nepal has triggered floods and landslides, leading to the complete blockade of seven major highways, according to Nepal Police Headquarters.

As of Sunday afternoon, vehicle movement has come to a halt on key roads including the Koshi Highway in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality of Sankhuwasabha, the Nepal–China border bridge and Pasang Lhamu Highway in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality of Rasuwa, and the Shahid Highway in Pariwartan Rural Municipality of Rolpa.

Similarly, the Jajarkot–Dolpa–Bheri Corridor in Aathbiskot Rural Municipality-1 of Rukum West, the Karnali Corridor in Jumla, and the Dolpa Road in Jajarkot remain fully blocked due to heavy debris and road collapse.

In addition to these blockades, another seven road sections are operating under one-way traffic management. These include the Kathmandu–Nuwakot Road, the Galchhi–Tribeni section in Uttargaya, Rasuwa, the Kaligandaki Corridor in Baglung and Nawalparasi East, the Beni–Jomsom Road in Mustang, and the Prithvi Highway in Tanahun.

Traffic authorities are alternately managing vehicle flow in these areas while clearing operations are ongoing.
Authorities have urged travelers to remain vigilant and stay updated with traffic and weather bulletins as continuous rainfall poses ongoing risks.

Efforts are underway to remove debris and restore full traffic movement, but adverse weather and the scale of destruction have posed significant challenges to road maintenance crews.
