KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ former Prime Minister and chair of the CPN (Maoist Centre), blamed the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, particularly Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, for delaying the passage of the School Education Bill.

Speaking at a student dialogue in Kathmandu on Thursday, he said the bill—registered during his tenure to honor agreements with teachers—was opposed by UML leaders, causing the delay.

Prachanda also condemned PM Oli for verbally abusing teachers, contrasting it with the Maoist Centre’s steadfast support for their rights.

He accused Oli of favoring privatization over public education and said the bill’s passage, originally planned for mid-July, was blocked by the current government.

Prachanda emphasized that his party remains committed to public education reform.
