Five injured in Kavre jeep accident

KAVRE: Five people have been injured in a jeep accident in Bhumlu, Kavre, on Thursday night.

The jeep (Ba 15 Cha 8563), travelling from Chaurideurali to Kathmandu, met with an accident on an uphill road section at Pauwa in Bhumlu Rural Municipality–8.

The injured have been identified as Chaurideurali Rural Municipality–6 Ward Chairperson Kishor Raj Giri, Padam Kumar Dulal, Dilli Prasad Gautam, Hatuj Raj Giri, and Tej Bahadur Pantha.

According to Kavre Police, four of the injured were discharged after minor treatment, while Ward Chairperson Giri, who sustained a fracture in his left leg, is undergoing treatment at the Trauma Centre in Kathmandu.

The driver, Yunis Gautam of Panauti Municipality–5, escaped unhurt.

Police said the accident occurred after the vehicle’s brakes failed, causing it to hit a soil mound.
