KATHMANDU: The Public Accounts Committee has instructed the ten ministries with the highest pending arrears to prepare and implement action plans aimed at meeting their targets.
Following discussions with ministry officials, the committee emphasized setting arrear reduction goals and linking arrear clearance to the performance evaluations of departmental officials to prevent future arrears.
The committee also urged ministries to take preliminary reports seriously and hold officials accountable.
The Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO) has been asked to review the performance of transferred officials over the past two fiscal years and to provide a report within a specified timeframe detailing their work and future commitments.
Concerns were raised about audit officers frequently transferring across departments and ministries, highlighting the need to maintain records of their work and accountability.
The committee has further instructed officials to resolve arrears reported since the 57th Auditor General’s report within the current fiscal year.
