KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has ordered the submission of documents in connection with a writ petition demanding that the Prime Minister seek a vote of confidence following the withdrawal of support by the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP).

This was the second hearing on the writ petition filed by advocate Birendra KC.

On Wednesday, a bench of Justices Mahesh Sharma Paudel and Nripadhwaj Niraula directed the Parliament Secretariat to furnish both the letter submitted by the NUP withdrawing its support to the government and the subsequent letter reinstating that support.

In addition, the Election Commission has been asked to provide details regarding the legality and leadership dispute within the Nagarik Unmukti Party.

The court also instructed that the official resignation letter of Minister Arun Kumar Chaudhary, who had represented NUP in the government, be presented.
