KATHMANDU: Student organizations affiliated with various political parties defied the curfew and took to the streets in protest.
At the call of the Nepal Student Union (NSU), student groups gathered near Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus to demonstrate against the restrictions.
Earlier, Govinda Koirala, President of the Free Students’ Union of Tri-Chandra Campus, had urged all student organizations to join the protest through a social media announcement.
“We are standing at a critical juncture in history. The current situation demands that we all unite and take a leading role in protecting the Constitution,” the announcement stated.
“Accordingly, preparations for the protest have been made at the location mentioned, and we sincerely appeal for your presence,” the announcement read.
The notification had specified that the protest would begin at 5:00 PM. However, the student groups took to the streets an hour earlier, openly defying the curfew.
