KATHMANDU: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended congratulations and best wishes to Sushila Karki, who has assumed leadership of Nepal’s new interim government.
On Saturday morning, PM Modi conveyed his message via X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Heartfelt congratulations to Hon’ble Sushila Karki on assuming office as the Prime Minister of Nepal’s interim government. India remains fully committed to the peace, progress, and prosperity of our brothers and sisters in Nepal.”
The statement is being viewed as a positive signal from India regarding the political changes in Nepal. Karki was sworn in as interim Prime Minister on Friday night.
Following the dissolution of the House of Representatives, midterm elections have been scheduled for March 5, 2026.
